Immersive media is defined as media formats that are immersive in nature, and that give viewers or participants a strong sense of immersion or presence in storytelling experiences. Immersive video is video that surrounds the viewer when played back in a VR headset, and it is one of the most common forms of immersive media. In this resource, we will refer to immersive media and immersive videos interchangeably. Although there are also interactive forms of immersive media, we do not cover the development of those forms here.
